Akopa lodge Kidepo
Location: Apoka is located on a picturesque headland overlooking the valley of the Narus River in the southwestern sector of Kidepo Valley National Park. The park itself is located in the extreme northeast of Uganda, bordering Sudan to the north, the Napore Mountains to the west and the Morungole Mountains to the south. The Kenyan border is only 5 kilometers from the eastern border of the park. At the crossroads of Kenyan, Sudanese and Ugandan ecosystems, Kidepo offers an amazing wildlife experience in a remote and pristine wilderness
Rooms: Apoka’s rooms are built with comfort in mind. Everything is handmade by local artisans, everything is big and spacious. 10 expansive rooms with natural canvas walls surround a rocky outcrop with endless views across the savannah.
Room facilities: With sitting rooms and private verandas, there are plenty of places to relax, read and stretch out. Large, hand-hewn beds with plush duvets draped in mosquito nets, hand-woven wool rugs, oversized plush towels, oversized dressing gowns… you may be as far from the city as ever, but you won’t want for anything. Step outside to a secluded deck and slip into your own private outdoor stone pool, big enough for the whole family.
Restaurant: breakfast, lunch and 3 course dinner.
The water comes from a well through a borehole. Bottled water is provided in all tents, on activities and is available at the bar. Water served with meals is boiled and filtered. Bottled water is also available with meals upon request.
Facilities: Apoka Lodge’s swimming pool – deep and cool – has been carved out of the large rock.
Activities: walks, bird watching, night game drives, visiting local tribes.
